Zec Dumoine was formed in 1978 when Quebec dissolved all the large hunting and fishing club leases.A Zec is a zone where the Quebec government recognizes exceptional hunting and fishing opportunities and a non profit organization administers the territory as a controlled harvesting zone ZEC Zone Exploitation Contrôlee. Aside from managing issuing licences, monitoring catches and limits,& stocking lakes the administrators are to work with conservation officers to enforce/explain the conservation laws. They are to collect a road fee to contribute to and maintain access road maintenance. In the last two decades Zecs have greatly expanded their concept of wilderness recreation activities to be supported and monitored including canoeing, hiking skiing, mountain biking ,primitive and car camping and passive nature hunting with camera, binoculars, edible wilds harvesting and a guidebook. Sentier Dumoine fits right in with this expanded concept.
Canoeists and hikers should expect more services and fees for road and camping access to pay their fair share.
ZEC DUMOINE is pleased to donate a Quebec Resident road pass and Quebec Resident Season pass .Out of Province residents can upgrade and just pay the difference.
