Roy is a loved author to many Canadians.

Some know him as a sports writer, some as an author of children’s books or as a story teller about Tom Thompson, Algonquin Park or his hometown of Huntsville.

I had the pleasure of sharing a weekend fishing and canoeing with him in the Dumoine valley, receiving and giving backhanded humorous compliments about technique and temperament ,that further endeared our friendship.

He was gracious enough to include in his book Original Highways a chapter about the Dumoine. He has donated four of his books (see photos) chosen with Dumoine Travellers passions in mind.
