Marg ‘Maggie’ Glossop is a key volunteer for Friends of Dumoine . She and her brother Peter Edmison have lead the way in our renovation of the Grande Chute Cabin and stopping place site into a Visitor Centre.
Marg is also an accomplished fibre artist www.maggieglossop.com.
and she has created this amazing workshop combining her love of fibre art and the Dumoine trail
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Participants are to arrive at the Visitor Centre Cabin by ten am (km 26 ,1 hours drive from Rapides des Joachims Qc on gravel roads..go slow). Marg will guide you through the art of eco dyeing using natural materials.She will supply you with a blank canvas..a scarf or tote bag ..upon which you will create a pattern using leaves from the forest floor. While the dye pot is working its magic Peter and Marg will guide you along the beautiful Dumoine Portage trail.
During this two hour (three km) hike you will stop at one of the scenic lookouts to enjoy your picnic lunch. The trail is an undulating mix of rock, smooth pine needle track, tree roots, boardwalks over swampy areas all through countless ferns and other small growth. You will need proper clothing, boots and a backpack packed with your lunch, water,bug repellent and rain gear. A camera and walking pole are optional but recommended.
We will return to the cabin and reveal our masterpieces!
The workshop ends at 4 pm. You can head back to Rapides des Joachims or Deep River where indoor accommodation tourism partners (cabins or motels) will welcome you
or you can tent on one of the nearby Sentier Dumoine primitive campsites if you have purchased camping permits from Zec Dumoine

DATES/COST
This workshop is meant to be purchased by one self organized group/family of 2-6 people. Between Marg and your group you can pick a suitably agreeable date in August 2023.
The group will split the cost of the winning bid amongst themselves.
