1994 Canadian Proof Set
The Royal Canadian Mint is proud to present the1994 proof set of Canadian coinage. This is the only set available which features both the commemorative silver dollar and the aureate dollar.
The commemorative silver dollar marks the 25th anniversary of the last dog team patrol of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which took place from March 11 to April 5, 1969, from Old Crow, Yukon to Fort McPherson, Northwest Territories, and back. The patrol, led by Constable Warren Townsend and Special Constable Peter Benjamin covered 804.5 kilometres on sleds pulled by 21 purebred Siberian huskies. The design on the reverse of the coin, by Canadian artist Ian D. Sparkes, portrays a dog team led by an RCMP officer in the Canadian North.
